Everything Will Be Alright In The End...

The 10th print of our 52 Prints Project - A Print for Every Week of 2025. 

The 10th print in our 52 Prints Project is inspired by a favourite quote of ours from the brilliant Kermode & Mayo Film Review Radio Show. Although being a fan of the show isn't necessary for enjoying our latest print.

The super bold typographic print features the quote first spoken by film critic Mark Kermode during an episode of the BBC Radio 5 Live show. The quote reads: "Everything will be alright in the end, and if it's not alright, it's not the end." The uplifting message offers a gentle reminder that even in difficult times, there is always hope for a positive outcome.

During lockdown this quote especially hit hard for a lot of us I think, and this exert from a GQ article from that time highlights why we love it so much:

"Listener correspondences are the beating heart of the show. “[Our listeners] share personal things to the point where when Simon is reading emails we have to take a deep breath,” Kermode says. And now, with everyone experiencing more and more anxiety, the requests for reassurance are becoming more direct. To soothe them, Kermode regularly repeats his mantra, “Everything will be alright in the end and, if it isn't alright, it's not the end,”. “[When the programme ends] we want people to go, ‘Oh, OK, that was good. I feel informed, educated and I feel entertained – and I feel better,’” Mayo says.

Design-wise we were inspired by very early American highway road signs after stumbling upon a great blog post about them here. Bold, yet awkward with a hand-painted element. We started with a chosen font and as usual picked out certain letters, changing them completely, and frankensteining them with other similar fonts. We then painstakingly chose a suitable brush and hand-drew over the print for the final piece.

The print's bold and dynamic design perfectly captures the essence of the quote, making it a conversation starter in any room, and whether you're a fan of the show or simply appreciate the great words, this piece is designed to bring a sense of reassurance and comfort.
